Another Travel Guide Rīga is published by the Internet magazine for independent travellers www.anothertravelguide.com and the cultural projects agency Indie in cooperation with the design studio Tundra.

On the 31^st of October and the 1^st of November the [moment] exhibitions will be available to public audience for free.  This year we will surprise you in an unusual manner.. The new [moment] will be created with the help of participants works and the mix of sound, illumination and music..

[MOMENT] is a unique event, where the interaction of fashion, art and music performances can be seen in one show.   The event will be held on the 30^th of October 2009  at a symbolic Riga Radio and TV tower. It will be one evening with participation of more than ten talented artists from all around the world – works of fashion design, visual art, photography and the direction of short films will be presented.  The works of DJs and VJs will be presented as a special light and music performanc.

At the end of October Riga and the fashion, art and music event of the year [moment] shot by mareunrol`s shall welcome more than 30 various Latvian and foreign designers from 15 countries and their latest collections and works. This year [moment] will take place in Riga Art Space and the artistic curator of the event is the well-known and innovative Latvian fashion duet mareunrol`s, whose name garnishes the project title as well.

The five days programme is the only opportunity to see so many designers from all over the world together in Riga. The fashion event of the year in Riga shall also be visited by one of the most recognizable fashion critics and journalists Diane Pernet, thanks to whom not one talent only has become famous!

[moment] is organized from October 29 till November 2 in Riga Art Space. For the first time this year everybody will have an opportunity to visit the evening events obtaining an entry ticket in advance. As of October 30 all [moment] shot by mareunrol`s expositions will be publicly opened from 12:00 to 18:00.

The event’s significance in Riga and in whole Europe has been acknowledged also by the world famous fashion critic and curator of the fashion film festival ASVOFF Diane Pernet, as in her blog she not only discusses fashion events in New York, Paris and London, but gives reviews also on the works of Latvian fashion designers mareunrol’s.

„[moment] is a non-standard fashion event, a platform for young and talented designers to show their works and raise themselves on the global level. By widening its borders every year, [moment] has become a sort of an art experiment that unites the individual vision of various artists in one place,” explains the organizer of the event and fashion producer Damien Carlier. For the first time in Riga [moment] shot by mareunrol`s shall present the latest collection of the Latvian topical young fashion artists mareunrol’s, who are also the artistic curators of the event. Their latest collection Private Detective will be demonstrated not only in a traditional fashion show, but also in an exhibition of photographs and in a fashion short film that has already participated in the ASVOFF fashion film festival in Paris.

[moment] shot by mareunrol`s shall present also the latest works of such fashion designers as Līga Banga, Ek Thongprasert from Thailand, the Italian fashion designer Filippo Fanini, the Belgian designer Nicolas Di Felice, Yuima Nakazato from Japan, the Estonian fashion artist Triinu Pungits and Ziad Ghanem from Great Britain.

A special part of [moment] shot by mareunrol`s is dedicated to accessories – Justin Smith from Great Britain shall present his latest hat collection Kaleidoscope, the Russian designer Sergei Grinko’s collection Lady of Camellias includes both necklaces and earrings as well as fine scarves and purses, the Portuguese Valentim Quaresma shall demonstrate a particularly elegant jewellery collection. [moment] shot by mareunrol`s programme includes photographs that have not been exhibited before – Monika Pormale’s debut in photography, a black and white photography series Circus by Ieva Epnere, a work exhibition Private detective by Kaspars Lielgalvis as well as an exhibition of the Swedish photographer Åsa Johannesson named Her Portraits.

As regards music, [moment] shot by mareunrol`s shall present Austrian DJ and music producer Diskokaine (who has made remixes for MOBY, Latterboys, Sally Shapiro), Kap10kurt from New York (at present making remixes for the Depeche Mode record), the Swedish performers Pacific! as well as Somadrone from Ireland performing together with VJ Eogan Kidney.

For all fashion lovers, this event shall be a unique possibility to enjoy films in which the main focus is put on their passion – during [moment] works of the international film festival A Shaded View On Fashion Film shall be screened, as well as a short film by Kristīne Kursiša Private Detective shall be screened in Latvia in the framework of the well known project Future Shorts.

The event is organized by Damien Carlier, a Belgian fashion producer living in Latvia, Alise Ģelze, a Latvian producer working actively within the film industry, and project manager Guntra Lipska. The stage designer of [moment] is Rudolf Bekic, an Austrian artist who has successfully made stages for operas, theatres and exhibitions not only in Latvia, but also in Austria and Germany.

This is the fourth [moment] in Riga already. The first event was organized in November 2006. Now, it has become an annual tradition and is welcomed not only by artists and guests, but also by the media.

In mareunrol’s [moment] fashion designer is going to surprise the public.

At the [moment] she is working on her new collection, which includes several outfits. Fashion designer admits that she still doesn’t know the name of collection, but it will show human’s personality. Liga’s new collection identifies human’s behaviour and activities. It is made in united color gamut and amazes with its unseasoned look and variations about human’s personality.

For the first time fashion designer’s new collection will be presented on the 30th of October, 2008 in mareunrol‘s [moment] event at ‘Riga art space’.

From the 29th of October, 2008 till 3rd of November, 2008 black and white photo collection ‘Portraits of her’ by Swedish photographer Asa Johannesson will be exhibited at ‘Riga art space’. It is is a comment on the norms and ideals of femininity as portrayed in the photographic portrait.

In the nineteenth century photography became a means of defining human faces as classified types. The project is a suggestion of a parallel between the role of the historical and the contemporary photographic portrait.

The series main aims are to challenge classical notions of feminine beauty norms and traditional representations of femininity as portrayed in the photograph. Although stylistically reminiscent of the use of typology as aesthetic, the series comments on and contradicts the notion of the human type. Thus, ‘portraits of her’ encourages a reading of femininity as a fictitious category, suggesting diversity and challenge to the very order of femininity.
